Hi! My name is Jasmine Youngblood and I was diagnosed with Von Willebrand's Disease Type 2M when I was about 15 years old. In my specific type of VWD, my body makes the normal amount of VWF, however, the factor doesn't work the way it's supposed to. Specifically, it doesn't attach to the platelets as it should, which decreases the platelet's ability to form a clot when an injury occurs.

VWD is the most common bleeding disorder, affecting up to 1% of the US population (about 1/100 people)! VWD Type 2 affects around 15-30% of those patients.

Desmopressin (DDAVP) is a medicine typically given to those with VWD to help stop bleeding. (Not so) fun fact: it doesn't work on me! In the event of an emergency, I would need to be given Factor Replacement Therapy.

My goal with this fundraiser is to educate others on the topic of bleeding disorders and to raise money for research, programs, and treatment for those who may need it; including myself!

Thank you for any donation you may be able to provide,

Jasmine Youngblood
