Apóyame!

For many, a world without bleeding disorders is simply a dream. Thousands of kids and adults affected face internal bleeding, costly treatments and lifelong infusions.

My story truly begins with my mom and her story! My mom was diagnosed with Von Willebrand Bleeding Disorder (VWD) at the age of 25 after she hemorrhaged and almost died in the emergency room 10 days after having a tonsillectomy. Once diagnosed her hematologist helped her get involved with Gateway Hemophilia Association (GHA).

When I was born my family knew there was a chance of me also having a bleeding disorder. Once I started showing symptoms at the age of 2, I was tested and also diagnosed VWD. Growing up with a bleeding disorder is not a girls dream but being a part of GHA has not only given me a bleeding disorder community but has given me another family.

Being a young adult with a VWD my goal is to advocate and help get the treatment we need to allow us to continue to live our life to the fullest. It took a while but i never stopped advocating for myself and in March of 2022, I was finally able to start self infusing factor replacement medication. This medication has changed my life and helps me continue to live my life to the fullest by treating any bleeds I may have.

Every dollar raised stays within our community and supports critical initiatives such as funding research to find better treatments, educating medical providers on the latest innovations and care, ensuring families have access to quality healthcare and providing access to the best educational resources available.

Will you help me reach my fundraising goal? It’s easy — just click “donate” to make a secure donation.

Thank you in advance for your support and united, we will make a difference.

Sincerely,

Jordan
