We are walking for the second year as The GRAYhounds with the NYC Hemophilia Chapter for the Unite for Bleeding Disorders to raise awareness and support for families living with bleeding disorders. 

Our son, Grayson, has Hemophilia B, a rare bleeding disorder affecting about 1 in 25,000 male births. When we first learned of his diagnosis, our world shifted. But so did our focus. We learned everything we could, as quickly as we could, to give him the very best care and the fullest life possible.

Now, part of our life includes weekly infusions, something we never imagined ourselves doing as parents. We started when he turned one. It is not always easy, especially with a strong, wiggly toddler. There are moments of worry, moments where we pause before we begin, and moments that still feel heavy.

But this has become part of our everyday life, something we move through with love, strength, and teamwork as a family.

Because of advances in treatment, Grayson gets to simply be a little boy. He gets to play, laugh, fall down, get back up, and live his life without being defined by his diagnosis. We do not take that for granted for a single second.

And Grayson continues to amaze us.

He is strong in the quietest, most powerful way. Brave without needing recognition. Full of joy, even on the hardest days. And after every infusion, he bounces right back, smiling, playing, being exactly who he is meant to be.

That is why we are walking.
