As most of you know Miles’ story, here is a brief synopsis.
Miles was diagnosed with severe Hemophilia B shortly after birth. Right around his 1st Birthday, history repeated itself and he had a bleeding event from a lab draw, requiring him to start Factor IX replacement therapy after port placement. A few days later, the port became infected, requiring yet another surgery to remove it. He was without Factor IX infusions for about a month or so after that, until last August, he got his first “spontateous” bleed in his arm. His IV access still proved to be poor, so we decided it was best for another port placement attempt. All went well the second time around! So since last August we have been doing his Factor IX infusions at home weekly through this port with no bleeds or port complications (knock on wood). He is such a trooper, and he is lucky to have an army supporting him. Our Mighty Miles. Thank you all for your support!
We are excited to be a part of his team and bring awareness to anyone living with a bleeding disorder.
