Thanks for taking the time to read this! As many of you know, we were blessed with beautiful twin boys (Lio and Bear) in March of this 2018! It was a long road to bring them in to world, but they continue to prove that they are fighters!!! They were born 8 weeks early, and in addition to their prematurity, they were both diagnosed with moderate hemophilia A at 15 hours of life!
To briefly explain, a typical person has between 50-150 units of factor 8 protein in their blood. This allows your blood to clot when you’re injured (externally and internally). I have 76, Braxton (who was tested shortly after birth has 144!!!) Elliott has 1 and Barrett has 2. They’re walking and on the move, so we’re learning to adjust to another “new normal” with daily risk of bleeds and injury. Due to their missing clotting factor, they’ll receive treatment - FOR LIFE!! In addition to the physical pain they’ll endure, the cost of care is unimaginable (to say the least!!)
However, there is so much promise on the horizon for both cures and other prophylactic treatments!!! They’re making strides every day! Please read more about our cause below and consider joining our team, walking with us, purchasing a shirt (proceeds go toward the cause) and or donating! Our boys are so lucky to have you all in their lives!
Email me if interested in purchasing tickets for our basket raffles this year! We'll be running one a month through August to support our cause.
I'm participating in the Unite For Bleeding Disorders Walk - a fundraising event to support those living with bleeding disorders in my community. Inherited bleeding disorders are a life-long condition. Currently there is no cure, but scientists are actively engaged in finding cures and improving treatments.
That’s why I’m raising money and I hope that I can count on your support of this exciting event! Thousands of families in our community, and across the country will benefit from your support and the success of the Walk.
My personal goal is to raise as much as possible for this worthy cause. I’m asking for your help to reach my goal. Will you make a tax-deductible contribution by donating what you can? It’s fast and easy to make a donation right here on my fundraising page.
Thank you in advance for your support and together, we will make a difference.
The National Hemophilia Foundation is dedicated to finding better treatments and cures for inheritable bleeding disorders and to preventing the complications of these disorders through education, advocacy and research.
