For many, a world without bleeding disorders is simply a dream. Thousands of kids and adults affected face internal bleeding, costly treatments and lifelong infusions. My 3 sons included.
Christopher, 7 years old, is on a prophylactic schedule. He is infused every Tuesday and continues to have bleeds as his factor level has hit less than 1% making him a Severe Hemophiliac. He has given us many scares, but not as many as his 2 year old brother has in his 2 years of life already.
Quarbyn, 2 years old, has already had a few infusions. He is starting to get used to it, but it is still so hard for him since he is not old enough to understand anything yet. He is Severe as well, but is only on an as needed basis. He is my clumsy little guy. Sadly, we have had to think about prophy for him as well. He is learning to help when his brother is infused and I believe finally getting used to it after having 7 infusions for a toe nail being smashed. YIKES!
Now Oliver, just born last year with his twin sister Aviana, they are only 11 Months old as of now (8/27/2020). Oliver has not needed any infusions and we have yet to have any scares. Thank goodness. He is at 1% (Moderate) but my older 2 have fluctuated down as they got older. So, I believe he will also be a Severe by the time he is a toddler. This house will be hectic, but I'm okay with that. This walk and donations have helped me and many many other families.
