The safety and health of people living with hemophilia and other bleeding disorders, their families, our supporters and volunteers are our #1 priority. With that in mind, we have decided to host our NYC Unite For Bleeding Disorders Walk event VIRTUALLY.  
The New York Hemophilia Chapter (NYCHC) continues to monitor the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus). We are following the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO) and other health authorities and have decided to change our local events to virtual events to include the 2020 NYC Unite For Bleeding Disorders Walk on Saturday October 10th, 2020.   

Even though we won’t be hosting a traditional event, our virtual event will be a chance for you to participate with other people in our community – keeping safe distancing rules in place, of course. Prior to event day, we will have fun and engaging ways to connect to our community of supporters.  

  1. Walk or Run in your neighborhood or at home. Complete your intended distance and proudly wear red to represent the NYCHC! Please follow your local social distance ordinances to stay safe.
  2. Share Your Why With Us. In the weeks and months leading up to our virtual Walk, the NYCHC will invite you to post on your social network WHY you are participating. Are you participating in honor or memory of someone? Are you running or walking to encourage others? It's powerful and we will be encouraging you to share a picture, a post or a video with the NYCHC.
  3. Track and share your progress. As you train for the NYC Unite For Bleeding Disorders Walk, share your progress on Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram by sharing a live video and pictures. Post your fundraising goal and a link to your fundraising page, too.
  4. Join Our Hemophilia Community! We encourage you to like and join our NYCHC Facebook page for all Unite participants and supporters to stay connected and enjoy our virtual experience together!
  5. Raise More to Raise Mission. More than ever people living with hemophilia and other bleeding disorders in the NYC area need our support. Please continue to ask friends and family for donations to support our mission and consider making a personal donation if you are able.

The money raised from this event will be used to assist our overall mission to find better treatments and cures for bleeding disorders and to prevent the complications of these disorders through education, awareness, advocacy and research. Please consider starting a team, joining an existing team, or making a donation. Every little bit counts and brings us closer to our goal! Onine fundraising is the quickest, easiest way to fundraise without ever leaving home!

Check out these tips to maximize your online fundraising:

  1. Make sure you have activated your Facebook fundraiser through your participant center. Just login to your fundraising center at NYC Unite For Bleeding Disorders Walk. Make sure you invite your Facebook friends to your fundraiser and reshare often Facebook Link!
  2. Customize your participant center so everyone knows why you support The NYC Hemophilia Chapter. Sharing your story is a big indicator of fundraising success, so make sure to share the link to your participant center through social media and email.
  3. Get creative! We know you may need to change your fundraising plans, but now is a great time to be creative with how you’ll hit your goal. 

Contact local NYCHC staff to redeem your t-shirt (when you raise $25) and your recognition pins for being a Factor Club member ($500) and/or VIP Team ($5000).
