Welcome to the Pacific Northwest Bleeding Disorders (formally HFO) annual Unite for Bleeding Disorders Walk page. We are so happy that you are interested in our 8th annual walk! 100% of all donations raised at this event stay in Oregon and are used to accomplish our mission to find better treatments and cures for bleeding disorders and to prevent the complications of these disorders through education, awareness, advocacy, and research.
The Oregon Hemophilia Foundation of Oregon supports all those affected by bleeding disorders - Hemophilia, Von Willebrand, and other rare factor deficiencies. This walk is a celebration to bring together the individuals affected by bleeding disorders, their families, friends, and supporters as a team to help a great cause and raise funds for the bleeding disorders community. The Unite for bleeding disorders attracts people of every age and background from parents with infants to grandparents and everyone in between. This year we invite you to join us for a virtual walk.
Our priority is always the health and well being of our community. Due to that fact we have turned this year's Unite for Bleeding Disorders Walk to a Virtual Walk!!!
What is a Virtual Walk?
A virtual walk is a real walk but on your terms. You get to choose your course, what time you start, and who walks next to you.
This year we are hosting a 10 week "Road to the Walk". This platform will allow us to connect weekly through videos and pictures that we share on social media. To add some fun to this year's virtual experience we added a theme. We will be virtually walking through the amazing grounds of Crater Lake National Park. Every Wednesday for the next 10 weeks we will feature a walk milepost that includes gorgeous pictures from our travels at Crater Lake. We will feature stories from community members sharing experiences on their road with a bleeding disorder. We would love for you to share pictures of your team, your walk experience as well as invite you to share your reasons "Why I Walk". Are you participating in the honor or memory of a loved one? To celebrate a family member or friend? Or to encourage others?
The Unite Walk has always been about celebrating our community and families. This year is no different.
How can I participate?
Now that you are signed up, it's time to build your team by inviting family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers to join with you. Together you start fundraising for Pacific Northwest Bleeding Disorders (formally HFO) to make a difference in your community. Don't forget to "like" and "follow" our page on Facebook and Instagram to see our weekly videos and fundraising tips. Use #PNWBD and #WalkUniteOr to tag the photos you share. We want to stay connected and see how your team is participating in the walk. We would love to share them at our walk day celebration on September 19th.
Since we are virtual this year, you have the ability to walk your way. Gather your team together and walk at a local track, trail or around the neighborhood. Abiding by safe social distancing of course. No matter where you are, no matter what your connection to the bleeding disorder community you can participate!
How does this help the foundation?
The Unite for Bleeding Disorders Walk has always been one of the largest fundraisers of the year. Together we have raised record amounts of funding. In 2019 this community raised over $80,000. We are continually amazed by the unmatched generosity of our community and your passion for our mission.
We have challenged the community with a goal this year of $40,000. We have no doubt we’ll get there because we have amazing people like you helping us! So whether you have been with us for years or you are new to our walk program, we invite you to join us in making this another exciting walk. We know that together we can make a difference.
Your support has allowed us to create and provide patients, caregivers, and families focused programs throughout the year. This year with COVID 19, we were able to change the parameters of the emergency assistance program. which allowed us to help many more families in our community that needed an extra hand during these difficult times.
What's in it for me?
Aside from the amazing feeling of giving of yourself to help others, we have a whole incentive program to help inspire and encourage you along the fundraising path.
PARTICIPANTS THAT RAISE $25.00 IN DONATIONS WILL RECEIVE A PNWBD LANYARD, A 2020 COMMEMORATIVE PIN AND A SPECIALLY DESIGNED "VIRTUAL" UNITE FOR BLEEDING DISORDERS WALK T-SHIRT!
For those who are in it to win it, we have a fun and exciting incentive package to keep you motivated and working for the next milestone.
